Architectural Photography by, Robert E. McCullough B.A., Arch. “TransAmerica Pyramid” San Francisco California. The Pyramid Building designed by architect William L. Pereira (Built 1969-1972) it was originally designed for CBS Corporation’s World Headquarters, to be built in Manhattan New York. CBS Corporation, the Board of Directors scrapped the design which was supposed to be a “Black Colored Pyramid” and the architect (William L. Pereira) then sold the Pyramid design to TransAmerica Corporation as there World Headquarters, and to be built in San Francisco California, as a white Pyramid (Completed in 1972). It should be noted due to Earthquakes/siesmological activity throughout the Bay area the TransAmerica Pyrmid rests upon, “roller skates” so the building may move inches (Laterally) avoiding structural shear damage in the event of an Earthquake.
